5 cosy garden lighting ideas

I am hoping our summer evenings will arrive in July and August. I love sitting in the garden waiting for dusk with a glass of wine, putting on a jumper as the balmy day starts to cool. Lighting isn’t just important inside, as we spend more time living outside in the summer, lighting our garden needs consideration. So here are my lighting suggestions to help create cosy summer evening.

  1. Festoon Lights - Everyone loves festoon lights, hung between trees or over a patio. They create an instant party feel and there are so many options out there now. You can get mains or battery powered in lots of different colours, so options to suit any garden.

  2. Oil Lamp - Great as a main source of light on a table for a dinner party. They add a vintage, rustic feel and can be transported around the garden with you. You can now buy ones that are very safe and Eco friendly .

  3. Fairy Light Tree - Wrapping fairy lights around a tree creates such a magical look and works in the summer and winter. I love looking out of a window from the house and seeing the twinkly glow.

  4. Boho Lanterns - Moroccan or Indian metal lanterns can be hung, placed on tables and on the floor. Used with candles they project gorgeous shapes and patterns, decorating your garden.

  5. Candles in Jars - So simple and easy for everyone to do, just keep glass jars from cooking and buy tealights or pillar candles. Citronella scents keep the insects away.
